Painting for Happiness: Five Easy Painting Ideas!

Remember the time when as a kid you painted the leaves pink and flower petals green and beamed with pride? As kids we enjoyed the process of colouring and painting; it was all in the imagination, not the norms- the outcome is pure happiness not perfection, which is most important!

When was the last time you as an adult picked up a paintbrush or a pencil to draw? Did you know painting as a hobby can help you release your stress? And no, you do not need to be an expert artist for that- you just have to enjoy the process, because colours are therapeutic and helps you release your tension. Be that kid you were in your kindergarten years.

Today I will tell you 5 different ways to paint using acrylic paints which is fun and needs no expertise!

  • Painting using leaves: Collect some leaves of various shapes and sizes. Now, pour some paint (any colour of your choice or you may mix colours). Put the non-shiny part of the leaves you collected on that paint and then press it against your drawing sheet, repeat as many times as you want, using as many colours as you like.

  • Palm Impressions: Smearing your hands with different colours and putting the imprint on your drawing sheet, tshirt or a piece of cloth is a fun way of having fun and getting creative with colours. Do it with your family, together to make lasting memories.

  • Painting with your fingers: Dip your fingers into the colours and get started, add in colours, patterns, feel the colours, express yourself. This technique is one of the best stress busters, the outcome may be abstract, but it would reflect all your emotions.

  • Free Flow: Take a canvas or a thick drawing sheet, pour paint on it, one on top of the other, as many different colours as you like and as many times as you want, once the sheet or canvas, is covered, drain the excess paint- Voila! Another masterpiece created by you!

  • Painting on rocks and stones: Collect some rocks and stones, wash it and let it dry. Take out your paint and paintbrushes and start painting them, you can make patterns, give them some eyes and smiling mouth- just let your imagination do the work and enjoy!
